Violence and Aggression. Is it being caused by Pharmaceutical Drugs?

Violence and aggression, hatred and abuse, surrounds us, and it seems to be getting worse. But usually we do not get close to identifying the cause.

Has there ever been a time when hatred, violence, aggression, abusive behaviour, et al, has been more rife in society? I would not argue the case either way! There has always been violence. But whether this is so or not we are certainly not adept at deciding what is the cause of violent and abusive behaviour.

• Guns kill; but someone has to pull the trigger.

• Knives kill; but someone has to thrust them into a victim.

• Social media might carry threats and abuse; but someone has to write it.

Sometimes human intelligence is really not that smart; and even when smart it is not always honest. Guns, knives, social media, et al, are not a cause of violence; they are merely vehicles. Too often what we believe depends too much on what we want to believe. Or what we are led to believe by vested interests. Our ‘intelligence’ is selective, gathering together the information that supports our prejudices, and ignoring what does not.

I am as guilty of this as anyone. For instance, I believe that pharmaceutical drugs are an important cause of many serious illnesses and diseases that abound in our modern world. Too often I see descriptions of disease paraded as causes of disease. Too often the adverse effects (serious illness and disease) of pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines as known - but ignored when it comes to considering disease causation.

It is surely too much of a coincidence that most chronic disease, all of which have grown explosively in recent decades, have done so alongside the bonanza of pharmaceutical drug-taking during the same period. And this applies to the worrying level of violence we are now seeing in our social life.

• My perception is that modern society is undoubtedly becoming progressively more violent.

Violence appears to be more concerned with our everyday life. It is no longer criminal violence, or abusive politics and politicians, or warfare and war crimes between people’s and nations. It is violence at a more personal level - domestic abuse, sexual crime, social media abuse, communal division, mass shootings, knife stabbings, road rage, and the like.

Sexual crime has recently been brought to the fore in the UK. The UK Home Secretary has described violence against women as “a national emergency”. Statistics supporting this abound. The Rape Crisis Centre says that 1 in 4 women have been raped or sexually assaulted since the age of 16; that 1 in 6 children have been sexually abused; and that there were 71,227 rapes recorded by the police in 2024.

And around the world there is concern about the amount of aggression and abuse that abounds on social media, and the impact this is having on children.

• My prejudice, I believe supported by strong and convincing circumstantial evidence, is that increased violence and aggression at this personal/social level is, in large part, caused by the ‘side effects’ of pharmaceutical drugs.

So what role do pharmaceutical drugs play in causing aggression and violence? The link is most certainly in the public domain, we should be fully aware that drugs and vaccines play a role. This is admitted within conventional medical literature when known adverse drug reactions are reported by drug regulators. And it is written clearly on the (seldom-read) Patient Information Leaflets (PILs) that come in each drug packet.

I have written about this before, in some detail - including a long list of the evidence that pharmaceutical drugs are known to cause the patient to become violent and aggressive.

And this information is now being confirmed on AI forums. I asked the AI package linked to my Firefox browser “What pharmaceutical drugs are known to cause violence and aggression?” and it came up with this:

“Pharmaceutical drugs that can cause violence and aggression include stimulants like amphetamines and certain antidepressants, as well as benzodiazepines, which may lead to aggressive behavior in some individuals. Alcohol, while not a pharmaceutical drug, is also commonly linked to increased aggression due to its effects on judgment and impulse control”.

Unfortunately this is an incomplete summary of the association. This can be seen on my ‘Iatrogenic Disease’ website which shows that aggression and violence is linked to many other drugs, including painkilling drugs such as paracetamol (tylenol), antiviral drugs, ADHD drugs, antipsychotic drugs, and many others.

Yet so often, when discussing the cause of any serious illness or disease, the role of pharmaceutical drugs (however well documented) is discounted or ignored completely. So I asked my AI platform a further question - “what are the main causes of violence and aggression? and this was the response.

“The main causes of violence and aggression include frustration, exposure to violent media, environmental factors like heat and overcrowding, and personal issues such as mental instability or substance abuse. Additionally, experiences of abuse, neglect, and social rejection can significantly increase the likelihood of violent behaviour”.

As usual, with routine conventional medical explanations of the cause of aggression and violence, the information is correct - but partial, incomplete, and therefore inadequate. It fails to mention the pharmaceutical drugs our doctors have been prescribing in ever-larger amounts for the last 70-80 years.

Why this omission? Why does the much heralded ‘Artificial Intelligence’ neglect the role of pharmaceutical drugs when it is clearly aware of the link? It suggests that AI is as prejudiced as our human intelligence. It has been programmed to tell us about only a limited view of the causation of violence.

Pharmaceutical drugs are clearly known to be an important cause of and violence. It is in the medical literature. It is alluded to, but heavily discounted by the new “AI” intelligence.

What this suggests is that AI platforms, just like our governments, our mainstream media, and conventional health services and providers, are heavily compromised by the lobbying and the largesse of the rich and powerful pharmaceutical companies. It also suggests that we have the intelligence to know about an important cause of social violence (and much more). But we do not all have the honesty or integrity to resist the financial incentives offered to us to ignore it!

When we ignore, or neglect any possible cause of violence and aggression, or any illness or disease, we will inevitably fail as a society to identify important, and perhaps blindingly obvious ‘treatments’ for it!

We can reduce violence by avoiding all the known causes; not least by abstaining from the pharmaceutical drugs we know can cause it!

Failure of ConMed (12). Antidepressants

The dangers of antidepressants are beginning to be well-known - at least outside the ConMed Establishment. Meanwhile, within it, they seem to be being given out liberally, without adequate or sufficient warning to patients.

In my book, 'The Failure of Conventional Medicine', I outlined the problem with antidepressant drugs. But even since writing this, a couple of years ago, what we now know about the dangers of antidepressants have increased and multiplied.

The Increased Prescription of Antidepressants
First, the number of people taking antidepressants is increasing at an alarming rate. This recent article, from the Guardian newspaper (usually slavishly pro-drug, and anti-CAM), states that there has been an increase of 20% in the last 3 years alone, with over 43 million prescription in 2009-2010. Unfortunately, in this article, and elsewhere in the mainstream media, there is little mention of the serious adverse reactions, and the DIEs (disease-inducing-effects) they cause.

It is also becoming clear that many (if not most), (if not all) do not need to be on antidepressant drugs. This study says that 70% of people on antidepressants are not even depressed! So why are they being prescribed? Perhaps it is just that they are good for Big Pharma profits - which is what seems to be driving most health issues at the present time.

The value and effectiveness of antidepressant drugs
There are now many studies that show these drugs to be ineffective. This article, for instance, suggests (in rather more careful language) that antidepressants are totally useless. There are many others!

This one describes a study that has found antidepressants to be not only ineffective, but that they make you even more depressed!

So with this background, what are we now learning about antidepressant drugs?

The links with Suicide
The link between antidepressants and suicide is now well documented. This article goes through the number of people taking these drugs, the numbers of people considering suicide, the ineffectiveness of antidepressants, and the evidence that they can actually increase suicidal tendencies. It also points out that other Big Pharma drugs can increase the risks of suicide, including the anti-smoking drug, Chantix, an anti-acne drug, Accutane, certain epilepsy and cholesterol-reducing drugs, and Tamiflu.

The links with Violence
Apologists for drug-based medicine hate individual stories about the adverse reactions to drugs. They call them, and dismiss them, as 'anecdotal'. In contrast, I describe them as examples of how Big Pharma drugs can damage and destroy people's lives! Take this one, for instance. A teenager is taking the well-known anti-depression drug, Prozac, and when he had his dosage increased he kills a 9 year old girl, apparently 'for the thrill of it'.

And in Canada, as this story of another drug-induced death seems to indicate, taking Prozac now appears to be an adequate excuse for murder! Yes, a young boy kills his close friend; and the reason given, and accepted by both judge and prosecution, is that the killer was taking this drug! And of course, there is no mention here, either, about whether such drugs should be prescribed in the first place!

So can these, and other similar stories, be dismissed as anecdotal, one-off occurrences? And just how many of these 'anecdotes' do we need before the ConMed Establishment, and Big Pharma, admit there just might be a problem?

In considering this, what needs to be borne in mind is that 1 in 25 adolescents in America are now on antidepressants. So if these drugs do cause gratuitous acts of violence, what will we end up with? A violent society? And this is certainly appears to be what is developing.

This webpage looks at the 'nightmares' created by one type of antidepressant drug, SSRI's, and then links to a long list of literally hundreds of incidents, where acts of extreme gratuitous violence has been associated with antidepressant, and other drugs, like antipsychotics.

And incidentally, whilst we are focussing on SSRI's, have you ever been told they cause severe high blood pressure in babies - when their mother's take these awful drugs?

Unfortunately for us, none of this appears to be admitted by the ConMed Establishment. Certainly, as has been seen, more and more patients are being prescribed these drugs, without being told by their GPs, or anyone else, about their DIEs.

Our brains are the most sensitive, an perhaps the most important of all our organs. They make us what we are, as people, as individuals. Big Pharma drugs, as usual, seek to interfere and change what is going on within our minds. And the consequences appear to be alarming.

Our mainstream media is also quite useless in warning us. This is about how good it gets! The BBC, another news organisation that usually slavishly adheres to the Big Pharma script on health issues, admits that antidepressants can cause falls in older people! Yes, they no doubt do this too. But are we not also to be informed that they can lead to suicide, or that they cause needless and unprovoked violence? There is not a mention of this anywhere!

It would appear that the only winner in all this is the drug companies - selling drugs to people who don't need them - selling drugs that are mostly ineffective in dealing with depression. And all this with total silence, and apparent unconcern, emanating from the ConMed Establishment.

Why do Mum's kill their kids?

Could this be down to ConMed drugs? This website raised the possibility that antidepressants are implicated in this violence too.

Violence and Pharmaceutical Drugs

Antidepressants are not the only drugs known to cause violence. The anti-smoking drug Chantix, or Champix (depending on where you live) has also been linked to more than 100 reports of suicide, and 400 reports of violence. 

The drug users were associated with 18 times the number of cases of violence than an average person. Because of these reports, the FDA obliged the manufacturer, Pfizer, to put a 'black box' warning on the drug. This is what the FDA said about the drug.

          “Chantix has been linked to serious neuro-psychiatric problems including changes in behaviour, agitation, depressed moods, suicidal ideation and suicide. The drug can cause an existing psychiatric illness to worsen or an old psychiatric illness to recur and the symptoms can recur even after the drug is discontinued.”

ASH, the anti-smoking organisation, with links to Big Pharma, recently recommended smokers to use this drug, and the Big Brother Watch website has brought my attention to this situation.

Violence and Pharma Drugs - an apology

I have to apologise. I recently published a blog that linked certain Big Pharma drugs with violence. I am sad to say that I grossly under-estimated the enormity of the problem. I have recently stumbled upon this website, which you really must look at:

When I first put forward the connection between violence and pharmaceutical drugs, I did so very tentatively. (See the Failure of Conventional Medicine, the Creation of Illness. However, the evidence is growing, and a number of well-known, and heavily consumed Big Pharma drugs, like Chantix, Prozac, Seroxat and Lariam are now implicated in causing violent behaviour.

Chantix appears to be the worst, and is linked to the highest number of reports of violence, aggression, and psychosis (http://www.ahrp.org/cms/content/view/764/9/).

Violence and Drugs

We live in a more violent society - perhaps. Yet we have yet to fully realise that Big Pharma drugs are implicated in many of the worst violent events. Nearly all school shootings in the USA have been done by children who have been taking modern antidepressant drugs.

The more you examine the Big Pharma industry, the medical profession, and conventional medicine generally, you come to realise that they really don't know what they are doing. They pontificate. They think themselves clever. The call themselves scientists. They proclaim that conventional medicine is 'evidence based medicine'. But it can be seen by what they do, regularly, they have absolutely no idea what damage their drugs are going to cause - until it is too late for many patients.

The article referred to above states that in a Public Library of Science investigation the top 10 drugs implicated are 8 to 18 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs, and that most of these are anti-depressants.


"Of the ten drugs, nine have strong action on the brain and are given for mental and emotional problems. The one exception is mephloquine, an antimalarial. Of the remaining nine, one is the amphetamine group, one is for smoking cessation, one is an ADHD drug, one is a benzodiazepine, and five are SSRI or SNRI antidepressants".
